Description

A NOAA Dynasonde was installed by the Max Planck institute at its Ionospheric Heating facility near Tromsø in 1980. During its first decade, the instrument was used intermittently to monitor the ionosphere during Heating and EISCAT operation. In 1993 the instrument was transferred to EISCAT Scientific Association and since 1994 it has been used for continual ionosoundings in intervals from 12 down to 2 minutes.
