Description

A NOAA HF Radar was installed by the Max Planck institute at its Ionospheric Heating facility near Tromsø in 1980. During its first decade, the instrument was used intermittently to monitor the ionosphere during Heating and EISCAT operation. In 1993 the instrument was transferred to EISCAT and since 1994 it has been used for continual ionosoundings in intervals from 12 down to 2 minutes. Archived data are also available since 1994. The Dynasonde processing retrieves standard ionosperic parameters, irregularity parameters, drift speeds, and electron density profiles.
