The Centrum Bada&#324; Kosmicznych Polskiej Akademii Nauk ( CBK PAN - eng. Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences) is an interdisciplinary scientific institute, operating within the Third Department of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Established by a decision of the Polish Academy of Sciences on September 29, 1976, it began operations on April 1, 1977. CBK PAN is headquartered in Warsaw, but the institute has branches in Wroclaw, Borowiec and Zielona Gora.
CBK PAN conducts scientific and technical work in space physics and physical and geodynamic studies of the planets and Earth. A distinctive feature of the Centre is the combination of research and construction activities: we design and build space devices, as well as analyze the data obtained with them.
The Centre constantly promotes Poland&#8217;s involvement in international space missions, works for the development of the country&#8217;s space policy, initiates the transfer of space technology from science to industry, and trains personnel for the Polish space business.
