Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV)

The Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV), is an Italian non-commercial public research institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, University and Research. With more than 1000 people employed, it is one of the most important geophysics institutions in Europe. The INGV team involved in the PHITIA-project belongs to the “Upper Atmosphere Physics and Radiopropagation” unit which manages the infrastructures of the INGV ionospheric monitoring network and all the related facilities. The Team is successfully involved in several ESA and EC projects addressed to the monitoring, study and modelling of the ionosphere.
