Description
The Lowell GIDO Data Center is a research data infrastructure operated by the University of Massschusetts Lowell. LGDC was established in 2002 with the first installation of the Digital Ionogram Database (DIDBase) and online ionogram analysis software SAO Explorer. LGDC hosts Realistic ionosphere (RION) Instrument Project of UNOOSA International Space Weather Initiative (ISWI). RION components operated by LGDC are (1) Global Ionosphere Radio Observatory (GIRO) data respository; (2) IRI-based Real-Time Assimilative Model (IRTAM) for 3D specification of subpeak ionospheric density and Global Assimilative Model of Bottomsite Ionosphere with Topside extensions (GAMBIT) database and explorer; (3) TID Database and Explorer for nowcast of traveling ionospheric disturbances (TIDs); (4) Skymapping for Local Ionospheric Tilt Evaluateion (Sky-LITE) subsystem for wide-angle sensing of the ionospheric plasma structures, (5) skymap-derived bulk plasma drift velocity computation and DriftBase repository; (6) Ray-Tracing through Realistic Ionosphere eXplorer (RayTRIX), an HF signal raytracing through the ionospheric channel specified by IRTAM, Sky-LITE and TIDx subsystems of RION.
