Description

The EISCAT UHF and VHF radar transmitters are located at Ramfjordmoen near Tromsø, Norway. The same site also hosts the EISCAT HF Heating facility and some of the UiT Arctic University of Norway observatory instruments, as well as several guest instruments. EISCAT also has remote receiver sites in Kiruna (Swedish Institute of Space Physics) and Sodankylä (Sodankylä Geophysical Observatory, University of Oulu), enabling tristatic vector measurements. The remote receivers were originally part of the UHF radar but were converted to receive the VHF frequency during 2012.
