eSWua Ionosondes Network

The eSWua Ionsondes network is part of the INGV ionospheric monitoring network, managed by the "Upper atmosphere physics and radiopropagation" INGV group (Rome, Italy). Different ionosondes models, such as the Advanced Ionospheric Sounder (AIS, completely designed and developed at INGV) and Lowell Digisondes, are part of the network and perform 24/7 vertical soundings. Data from the stations are collected in a centralized IT infrastructure at INGV headquarter in Rome and ingested into the eSWua ionosondes database. Raw ionograms, autoscaled parameters and manually validated data are freely available through the eSWua website. Either INGV ionosondes as well as those managed by other parties are part of the network; the data management system harmonizes the information from different sources and can potentially ingest the data from any other ionosonde model.
