EISCAT Svalbard radar station, Longyearbyen, Svalbard
(ESR)Description
The EISCAT station on Svalbard is located close to Longyearbyen next to the now closed coalmine no. 7. It hosts the EISCAT radar as well as guest instruments. The UNIS Kjell Henriksen Observatory (KHO) is nearby and has a very large set of complementary ground-based observatory instruments. The area has also been the home of the now discontinued SPEAR heater and EISCAT Svalbard Dynasonde.
