EISCAT Tristatic UHF Vector Parameter Measurement

Last modified at Nov 1st, 2022, 17:28 GMT

Description

The EISCAT Mainland incoherent scatter radar system has a unique tristatic measurement capability with its two remote receivers. The full ion drift velocity vector can be calculated in the volume of intersection. The electric field can also be calculated by applying a model of the magnetic field.

The remote receivers were built for the EISCAT UHF radar and could be used at the UHF frequency until 2012, when interference from telephone operators in the 930 MHz band prevented further operation.
