Abstract

The EISCAT ionosonde observes the ionosphere in short intervals (down to 2 minutes). The receiver is a antenna array where the Dynasonde algorithms (DSND, NeXtYZ etc) are applied to retrieve ionospheric parameters including electron density and ionospheric irregularities. Tha data are searchable in an online database.

Description

EISCAT operates a digital HF sounder at the main site at Ramfjordmoen near Tromsø. Until 2015 there was also a similar instrument at the Svalbard site. The instrument is normally used for regular ionosoundings, but can also be reconfigured for other purposes. The data are freely available through an online database.
